Questions people ask
When does the Flat jockeys' championship start and finish?
The 2026 British Flat jockeys' championship runs from 2 May 2026 to 17 October 2026. Winners outside those dates count only towards the separate annual table, which runs for the calendar year.
Why does the jumps trainers' table start before the jockeys' table?
The 2026/27 British jumps trainers' championship started on 26 April 2026, the day after the previous season ended at Sandown. The jumps jockeys' championship started later, on 4 May 2026.
Is the Irish Flat championship the calendar year?
No. The Irish Flat championships run from the opening day of the turf season, 15 March 2026, to the closing day on 1 November 2026, and Dundalk all-weather winners inside those dates count.
Do Irish trainers count in the British championship?
Yes. Any trainer can win a British title, but only prize money won in British races counts, so Irish yards appear in the British tables on their British earnings.
Will these numbers match the official tables exactly?
The tables are counted from the results in the RaceWatch database and usually match the published tables closely. Small differences can come from late result changes, so the official table is the final word.
