Who is the champion trainer?
Aidan O'Brien is the reigning British Flat champion trainer and Dan Skelton the British jumps champion. Aidan O'Brien and Willie Mullins hold the Irish Flat and jumps titles.
Who is leading the trainers' championship now?
Dan Skelton leads the British jumps table on £877,647 and Andrew Balding the British Flat table on £8,759,066. Aidan O'Brien leads in Ireland on the Flat and Willie Mullins over jumps.
How is the champion trainer decided?
The title goes to the trainer who wins most prize money in that country's races between the championship dates. British totals are in pounds and Irish totals in euro, and prize money won abroad does not count.
Can an Irish trainer be British champion?
Yes. Irish-based trainers have won British titles on their British prize money alone, and the past champions tables show each season's champion with their total from our results.
Who has won the most trainers' titles recently?
Since 2015/16, Paul Nicholls has won most British jumps titles with 5. On the Flat, the most British titles since 2015 belong to Aidan O'Brien and John Gosden, with 4.
Questions people ask
When does the jumps trainers' championship end?
The 2026/27 British jumps trainers' championship ends at Sandown on 24 April 2027, and the next season starts the following day. The Irish jumps title ends on the final day of the Punchestown Festival, 1 May 2027.
Is the Flat trainers' championship the calendar year?
In Britain it is, with the Flat trainers' title counting prize money from 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2026. The Irish Flat trainers' title uses the turf season, from 15 March 2026 to 1 November 2026.
Why are pounds and euro shown separately?
British prize money is paid in pounds and Irish prize money in euro, and each title only counts its own country's races. RaceWatch never adds the two currencies together.
Why can the RaceWatch totals differ from the official table?
The tables are counted from results in the RaceWatch database for the official dates. Late corrections and small differences in how prize money is recorded can move a total slightly, so the official table is the final word.
Who won the trainers' championships last season?
Dan Skelton won the 2025/26 British jumps title and Aidan O'Brien the 2025 British Flat title. Willie Mullins and Aidan O'Brien are the latest Irish jumps and Flat champions.
