Who is the champion jockey?
Oisin Murphy is the reigning British Flat champion jockey and Sean Bowen the British jumps champion. In Ireland the reigning champions are Dylan Browne McMonagle on the Flat and Jack Kennedy over jumps.
Who is leading the jockeys' championship now?
Billy Loughnane leads the British Flat table on 159 winners and Harry Skelton the British jumps table on 97 winners. Billy Lee and Darragh O'Keeffe lead the Irish Flat and jumps tables.
How is the champion jockey decided?
Each title goes to the jockey with most winners in that country's races between the championship dates. The British Flat title runs from 2000 Guineas day to British Champions Day, 2 May 2026 to 17 October 2026 this year.
Who has won the most jockeys' titles recently?
Since 2015, Oisin Murphy has won most British Flat titles with 5, and Richard Johnson most British jumps titles with 4. The past champions tables list every season.
What is the record for most winners in a season?
The season records page ranks the biggest British and Irish totals by a jockey since 1990, Flat and jumps. The past champions tables here give each champion's total inside the championship dates.
Questions people ask
When does the Flat jockeys' championship finish?
The 2026 British Flat jockeys' championship ends on British Champions Day, 17 October 2026. Winners before 2000 Guineas day or after Champions Day do not count towards the title.
When is the champion jumps jockey crowned?
The British jumps champion is decided on the final day of the season at Sandown, 24 April 2027 this season. The Irish jumps title is decided on the final day of the Punchestown Festival, 1 May 2027.
Do winners in Ireland count for the British title?
No. The British titles count only winners in British races and the Irish titles only winners in Irish races, so a jockey who rides in both countries appears in both tables with separate totals.
Why can the RaceWatch count differ from the official table?
The tables are counted from the results in the RaceWatch database for the official dates. Late result changes and disqualifications can move a total by one or two, so the official table is the final word.
Who was champion jockey last season?
Oisin Murphy won the 2025 British Flat title and Sean Bowen the 2025/26 British jumps title. Dylan Browne McMonagle and Jack Kennedy are the latest Irish Flat and jumps champions.
