Best racing form subscription: what to look for

The best racing form subscription is the one whose data matches how you study races. Prices and trial terms for each service below were checked at source in September 2026.

Figures refreshed 16 October 2026 from the RaceWatch results database

Key takeaways

  • The best racing form subscription is the one whose data matches how you study races, whether that is one expert rating or the raw figures.
  • Ratings subscriptions suit people who trust one expert number, while data subscriptions suit people who weigh draw, pace and trainer records themselves.
  • In September 2026 Timeform Race Passes cost £30 a month and Proform's Standard plan £37.50 a month, as listed on their own sites.
  • Geegeez Gold and RaceWatch both offer a first month for £1 or less, with RaceWatch free for 30 days and then £24.99 a month.
  • RaceWatch's 684 free data pages let anyone test its figures before starting a trial or entering any card details.

What do free racing sites already give you?

Free sites give racecards, results, basic form figures, replays and news, which covers following racing but stops short of deeper form study.

Sporting Life and At The Races both publish free racecards and results for British and Irish racing, and At The Races adds a large replay archive. The free Racing Post app lists racecards for every race in Britain and Ireland. Before paying for anything, it is worth knowing what those free cards already answer, so that a subscription is judged on what it adds rather than on the basics.

RaceWatch also publishes free data pages on draw bias, favourites, trainer form and returners, built from results since 1990. Reading those first shows the kind of evidence a data membership works with, and whether that style of form study suits you, before any money or card details are involved.

What should a paid racing form subscription add?

Public racing records and results from Britain and Ireland.

The test is simple: does the extra data change how you read a race? A draw note without a sample size is an opinion. A good subscription shows the number, the sample behind it and how it applies to today's runners.

  • Draw and pace records by course
  • Speed or speed and sectional data data
  • Form line tracking: how beaten horses ran next
  • Alerts on horses and connections you follow

What do ratings memberships offer?

Ratings memberships give each horse an expert figure with written analysis, so the weighing of the evidence is done for you.

Timeform's Race Passes open its ratings, race reports, online archive, trainer and jockey statistics, Flags, Pace Maps and Jury selections for £30 a month, £10 for 24 hours or £1.50 per race. The Racing Post's in-app Analysis tier costs £19.95 a month and its top tier £49.95 a month; its help centre describes a tier for cards, insights and closing stages replays, and a top tier adding tipsters, the digital newspaper and full video replays.

A ratings membership suits someone who wants a fast, trusted read of a race and is happy to follow an analyst's figure. The trade-off is that the reasoning behind the number sits with the analyst rather than with you.

What do data memberships offer?

Data memberships give the figures behind each runner, and differ mainly in which tools, reports and data sources they include.

Geegeez Gold lists Instant Expert, Pace Maps, draw analysis, a Query Tool, Profiler and more than a dozen daily reports. Proform lists its System Builder on every race since 1997 with Betfair-price back-testing, Windows desktop software and RaceMetrics online.

Handicap students tend to lean on marks, draw and connections, so Marks+, Connections and the Draw tab in RaceWatch, or Instant Expert in Geegeez Gold, fit that way of working.

Which racing form subscriptions offer free trials, and how does cancelling work?

RaceWatch gives 30 days free and Geegeez Gold a first month for £1, while Timeform offers short passes instead of a trial.

Geegeez Gold's FAQ says a trial can be cancelled at any time, and that the trial rolls into a monthly subscription unless cancelled. Timeform's 24-hour pass at £10 and single-race pass at £1.50 work as a low-cost sample. Neither Proform's pricing page nor the Racing Post's App Store listing showed a free trial when checked. Whichever service you try, set a reminder a few days before the trial ends.

What are RaceWatch's trial and price?

RaceWatch costs £0 on the day you join, takes a card on step two of sign-up and charges £24.99 a month from day 31.

The trial opens the full app: racecards with RWS scores, the RWS Hub, 20+ bookmaker prices, Tracker+, Telegram alert channels, Angles, Filter+, FormLines+, Marks+ and Speed+. Cancelling before day 31 means no charge. Before starting a trial at all, the 684 free data pages show the kind of figures RaceWatch works with, from draw bias to favourite records, updated through each racing day.

Questions people ask

Which horse racing form subscription suits someone who mainly studies handicaps?

Handicap study leans on draw, pace, connections and how a horse's mark compares with its winning marks.

What should a paid racing form subscription include that free sites do not?

Free sites usually stop at racecards, results, replays and basic form figures.

Is a monthly racing form subscription worth it for a casual punter?

For following racing casually, free cards, results and RaceWatch's free data pages are usually enough. A subscription earns its place for regular form study, and a free trial is the fair way to judge it.

Do any racing form subscriptions offer a free trial?

RaceWatch offers 30 days free, then £24.99 a month, and Geegeez Gold offers 30 days for £1. Timeform sells a 24-hour pass for £10 instead of a trial, as checked in September 2026.

How do ratings-based and data-based racing subscriptions differ?

A ratings subscription gives an expert figure for each horse, while a data subscription gives the underlying measures to weigh yourself. Some form students use one of each and compare where the two disagree.
